A Safe Space Level 3 and New Programme Training 2019

A Safe Space Level 3

This training is open to commissioners and unit leaders who have yet to attend a Level 3 face to face training.

Please note that by the compliance deadline of December 2020 one leader from each unit requires ASS levels 1,2 & 3

Leaders in Training are only required to have ASS Levels 1&2 to complete the LQ qualification. However, Leaders in Training working on Module 4 of the Leadership Qualification may apply if they wish to do so.

This training is not open to Young Leaders.

What do I need to do before attending the training?

Before attending the training, you will need to complete the e-learning element of level 3 which can be accessed via the Girlguiding website (search 'A safe space, level 3 - recognising, telling and taking action). This should take about 25 minutes to complete.

What do I need to bring with me

Your GO record or relevant certificate to confirm that you have completed the e-learning element of level 3. Volunteers who have not completed the Module 3 e- learning will still be able to attend the face to face training but their GO record will not be updated until the e-learning element of Level 3 has been completed.

New Programme

This training is open to Commissioners, Unit Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Unit Helpers, Leaders in Training and Young Leaders. It is aimed at volunteers who have not already attended a New Programme training locally.

The training will include:

• An overview of the New Programme and all its component parts including: themes, unit meeting activities, skills builders, interest badges and awards.
• Unit programme planning which will explore how to create a balanced and varied, girl led unit programme using the Girlguiding resources.

You can select whether to attend A Safe Space Level 3, New Programme or both training sessions.  

What else do I need to know?

• The morning sessions will run from 10 am - 1pm and the afternoon sessions from 2pm - 5pm.
• You can attend just one of the trainings or you can attend both.
• Each training sesson is a half-day so if you wish to take both courses then you will be required to attend all day at your chosen location.
• If you attend both you will need to bring a packed lunch with you. Tea and Coffee will be supplied.
• There is no charge for this training event.
• Leaders can apply to attend any of the trainings advertised but would encourage you to attend the one closest to where you live if possible.
• Travel expenses are a legitimate cost that can be claimed your unit/ district/ division or county.
• Uniform should be worn.
