Try, Inspire & Qualify is an exciting adventure weekend for Adults in Guiding at Foxlease on 10th -12th September 2021. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The weekend will provide an opportunity for Leaders in Guiding to:
You can come for the day and try an activity from £5. Tea and coffee will be supplied, but you will need to bring a packed lunch with you.
This event is also open to Rangers and Young Leaders aged 16 -18 years of age.
Please choose one of the following options:
Saturday (2 adventurous activities + 2 workshops) - £20
Sunday morning (1 adventurous activity + 1 workshop) - £10
Saturday ONLY (4 workshops) - £5 per workshop

Abseiling, Archery, Climbing, Canoeing, Crates, High Ropes, Zip Wire, Low Ropes, Tree Climbing, Jacobs Ladder, Traverse Wall.
Geocaching, Pioneering, Backwoods cooking, Shelter building, Traditional skills (whittling), Bush Craft, Wide Games, Going Away with (basic modules), Going Away with (International Module), Raft building, Orienteering, Writing Risk Assessments
Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 Food Safety: This course will take place on Saturday 9am till 4.30pm and the price of £30 includes a multiple choice exam, text book and resources.
Archery – GB Instructor Award: This course costs £180 and will enable you to lead fun and safe archery sessions for beginners. Day one - Introduction, theory, equipment, safety, practical on range, written test indoors. Day two - Discussion on teaching structure, range practice of delivery, practical assessment. (Please note that this course will take 2 full days)
MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme): This course consists of a 4 hour theory session in the morning followed by a driving assessment session which can take up to about an hour. You will need to supply a copy of your driving licence. The cost of this course is £100 and it will take place on Saturday from 9am.
DofE Introduction Course: This course will run on Saturday, 10am till 4pm and the cost is £10. The Introduction to the DofE course aims to provide the information needed to be a DofE Leader and run the DofE programme within Girlguiding. The course is particularly useful for those new or relatively new to running or assisting with the DofE programme. It provides a general overview of the DofE, preparing participants to deliver DofE programmes in practice.

DofE Expedition Supervisors Course: This course will run on Sunday 10am till 4pm and the cost is £5. This course aims to provide all those involved in supervising DofE expeditions with an understanding of their role and responsibilities as an expedition Supervisor. The course is particularly useful for those new or relatively new to supervising expeditions. Whilst not currently compulsory, it is a useful course for any expedition Supervisor. More experienced Supervisors will also find it useful as a consolidation of their knowledge and the opportunity to network and discuss challenges with other Supervisors.

This training course covers the first of these three areas.
Expedition Skills Course: This course will cover the following: Clothing, personal and group equipment, choosing, fitting, packing & carrying rucksacks, food for expeditions, choosing and using stoves & choosing, pitching and caring for tents. This session will take place on Sunday 10am until 4pm which will include cooking your lunch. The cost is £5.
Canoe England Paddle Sport Awards: A weekend where you will spend the Saturday at the lake learning the strokes and how to do rescues. On Sunday you will be going on a trip so you can put your new found skills into practice. For those new to paddling you will gain the Discover Award and if you already have some knowledge you may be able to gain the Explore Award. The cost for this qualification is £60.
Fencing: This course will run on Saturday 10am till 5pm and the cost is £45. This will enable you to run a fun plastic fencing session with girls aged 7/8+.
Level 1 Walking: This course lasts all weekend and costs £5. It covers most of the syllabus, with a combination of theory and practical sessions, and also time to explore a little of the New Forest.
First Response Basic: This course will run on Sunday, 9am till 4pm and the cost is £10.
